Jacobs Ladder Exercise Machine FAQs (Updated 2025)
We get plenty of questions about the Jacobs Ladder line of products. Here's a few things to know:
Do I need to assemble my Jacobs Ladder?
All Jacobs Ladders are shipped fully assembled!
That's right - no time wasted with putting these machines together. However, this comes with a little extra upfront work. (The Ropefit will require minimal assembly to securely fasten the main pulley)
Always compare the dimensions of your Jacobs Ladder to the clearances you have in your space! Our team is here to help out if you need a second set of eyes, too.
How do Jacobs Ladder fitness machines ship?
Jacobs Ladders ship fully assembled on custom sized pallets. Because of their size and shape, freight/LTL shipping is required.
Delivery will require an appointment to be set with the shipping carrier. Someone must be present at the time of delivery as well, to sign for the order!
Once received, you'll have to remove the unit from it's pallet. From there, you're free to roll it into your space. Each unit has wheels for easy transport.
Do I need special electrical outlets to power my Jacobs Ladder?
Most Jacobs Ladders are self-powered, which means they don't plug in at all! They're powered up by the energy you generate when using the machine.
The Jacobs Ladder 2 does require 110V power, meaning you'll have to plug it in.
What's the difference between The Stairway and The Stairway GTL?
The Jacobs Ladder and The Stairway have the same internal drive system that operates the machine. While in use, the user wears a belt to help control both the speed and the braking of the machine.
The Stairway GTL's speed is controlled by a motor, eliminating the need for a belt. The speed is adjusted either up or down with arrows on the machine's display
As of July 2022, the Stairway has been discontinued. The Stairway GTL is the only model available for sale.
What type of maintenance is required for Jacobs Ladder?
Jacobs Ladder products require little to no maintenance due to their simple designs. Each product has specific maintenance procedures outlined in their owner's manual. These are available for download on each product page.
What kind of warranty does Jacobs Ladder carry?
Jacobs Ladder, Jacobs Ladder X, The Stairway GTL are covered by Core Health and Fitness' standard warranty.
All parts are covered for 2 years and labor is covered for 1 year.
Is the Jacobs Ladder better than a treadmill?
Treadmills, when used for anything more than walking, can be particularly hard on your joints. This is especially true if you have poor running form.
A study by LSU was performed to compare the metabolic effects and mechanical impact of maximal exercise testing on a Jacobs Ladder vs that of a traditional treadmill.
The results showed that you can expend more energy with less impact on your joints by using a Jacobs Ladder instead of the treadmill! This will allow you to workout harder with less risk of injury.
Where is Jacobs Ladder equipment manufactured?
All Jacobs Ladder machines are designed and built in Niagara, NY. That's right - these bad boys are American made!
